Opinion: It’s only muppet fans who don’t understand football who compare Caicedo to Rice

It’s only muppet fans who don’t understand football who compare Caicedo to Rice -the same nincompoops who compare Bruno to Martin Ødegaard.

When Rice upgraded his career from West Ham, he stopped being a purely defensive midfielder. At Arsenal, he has become a progressive force - creating, driving the ball forward, switching play, dictating tempo, even adding a bit of set-piece magic to his game. That’s why he’s getting consistent Ballon d’Or recognition.

You can’t compare him to Caicedo because Rice doesn’t play for a small club where all you do is defend, intercept, and chase shadows. At the Emirates, there’s nothing to defend coz we always have the ball, leave alone the fact that Arteta has built a Berlin wall at the back. Rice is now more of a mix between a deep-lying playmaker and a modern B2B engine ,and tracks back when needed.

The gap is that Rice affects games more -tempo, rhythm, control, and even goals -while Caicedo mostly maintains balance.

And every time they meet, Rice absolutely schools him.

As for Bruno -with all his "creativity" - his team is still stuck mid-table. He couldn't help Cavani, Ronaldo, Hoijlund,Zirzkee win the golden boot coz he's full of himself- so much of a creator! He's  flashy and risky - he plays for moments, not systems. That’s why he racks up numbers but often hurts his team’s structure.

Ødegaard’s intelligence, movement, and link-up play are on a higher tactical level that's why he gets shortlisted for the Balon D'or.

I get it when Arsenal players are compared to Liverpool’s or the cheating oilers who buy titles with referee help, but not with these average freaks .
